I’m not sure if I’m in the wrong. A few months ago, I found out that a huge group of people are being laid off from my job. I’m in a subreddit for that company, that only employees can join. There aren’t customers. During this time, the company was being vague about who will be effected. Someone I knew in another department found the list of the groups being laid off. I posted on this private group. Someone from the group snitched on me. Still don’t understand how they found out who I was, since names aren’t required to join. I was pulled into HR and told I could lose my job due to this post. All the post had on it was the names of head managers whose group were effected. Again, everyone in the group are able to search our internal website to get the names. No one from outside the company can see the post. Has anyone ever ran into something like this before? Could I lose my job? How can I get rid of these golden handcuffs? I hate being stressed out about something that wasn’t done to cause issues with the company. I was just helping my fellow coworkers.
