I am one of the laid off, so take this rant with a grain of salt. I was just floored today to see on LinkedIn that the Chief People Officer calls herself a “culture champion”.
This company laid off 10% of staff and could not service customers, cut out all travel and in person get togethers (fully remote), eliminated the annual company party, perks like fertility benefits, peer bonuses, wellness, unlimited PTO, professional development. Also increased the amount of time to earn a sabbatical, is trying to force people near offices back in, and is talking about lowering salary for people who have moved to lower comp markets. All within time since the “culture champion” has been hired.
I cant tell you how bad I want to comment on that LI post, it is infuriating to me how companies like this promote themselves as something completely different than what they are and truly no one can speak up about it without putting themselves at risk
