They covered about 30% of my MBA (which I completed a few years ago) under a company-wide program in which I owed them two years of service afterward. I bootstrapped the remaining balance out of pocket.
I approached the same tuition reimbursement program late 2022 asking if they'd cover part or all of this program ($7k USD). Denied. I then asked my department manager for training funds, again part or all. Denied. And then I approached the company for any scholarship potential. Denied again. “You should definitely ask your department to see if they can assist with training funds.” Yeah, they didn't.
This is a 6-month online executive strategy program offered by a prestigious University. I am currently climbing the ranks of my company with growth prospects in sight. The company constantly presses us to grow and develop but they're not standing by their values. Or, at least, so it seems to me.
At this time, I'm stuck laying 100% tuition down out of pocket. I work for a Fortune 200 company.
Is it reasonable to be pretty upset about this?
