Cost of Living and Non-work Related Aid

Can anyone relate to feeling like there are alternative aid approaches that anti-work communities could benefit from? For example, so many of us are coerced into overworking due to suppressed wages being an unfair match for market rent, yet modern communes seem to be falling more and more out of style.  What is stopping a like-minded group of workers from creating a community to support each other? Are there other neglected workers' needs we could be better at addressing?
