Coworker told me to clock out while I waited for them to give me my tips.

I work in a kitchen. Everyone gets tipped out at the end of the night. It's common for the kitchen staff to finish thier closing work before the front of house is finished calculating everyone's tip out. We have the option to pick it up at a later date but we're garunteed tips every night. I finished my closing duties early and sat down while I waited and my coworker told me I shouldn't still be clocked in and he thought it was unfair that I was still clocked in when I wasn't doing anything. My argument is that I'm waiting on the company to performe a task, so I feel getting paid for 10 minutes it takes is fair. Mind you this dude is not in anyway close to being my boss, hes new infact, as am i. So why is he concerned with my hours or anyone else's?…

So why should I not get paid for that time?
