I am a steward, bargaining team member, and vice president of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local #39.
We have been in negotiations with our employer, CUNA Mutual Group, in Madison, WI, USA over a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for more than a year now. Negotiations have ground to a complete halt and OPEIU #39 has filed multiple Unfair Labor Practice charges in an effort to stop CMFG from breaking labor laws related to bargaining and to force them back to the table to bargain with us in good faith.
Yesterday, CMFG made the stunningly unethical decision to put the Chief Steward on paid suspension pending an investigation into “disclosure of company information.”
