For background:
I work in healthcare. I work in a general practice clinic as a referral coordinator. I receive referrals from 3 doctors, get prior authorizations, schedules There's a high turnover rate here (like many other shitty clinics), but I like my job, it's close to home, and I get to do my job at my pace.
The fun part is- it doesn't pay well at all. $2 under what the average for our state offers. The convenience is why a lot of other people stay, but the pay and benefits are trash.
People here bring their kids in, leave to go do school stuff, appointments, anything they need to.
I have only been here for 2 months, but they have already stated I'm one of their best workers. So when I put in to come in late on a Friday morning, and they denied it, I was a little taken aback.
My driver's license is expired and I need to renew it. I cannot renew online or by mail due to changes that have to be made in person. I made an appt a week out, at 8am as SOON as the DMV opens, on Friday. I ask if I can come in after the appt is done, and make up any time. (Usually this results in 30 min lunches, working an hour late, etc). Realistically, I would be back with travel time around 930-10a, if that late.
They said they cannot approve it because they “can't keep making exceptions”. I've always made up any time I missed, took on some extra work, even spoke up and conducted a meeting so I could help my team out.
