“Don’t give the man anymore than than you have to”

For 5 years in a row I was rated by my boss 10 out of 10 and got the max bonus (it pays for one months rent) and that helps me a lot. Last year he gave me only a 5 out of 10 saying that after 5 years I clearly enjoy my work and he considers my good effort 'average' for me, so no bonus. I responded with doing the minimum work necessary this past few months to get by without causing problems. This includes taking advantage of a work from home policy my company put in place. I now spend a lot of time with my kids.
