I loved my job last year and could see myself staying in my role for years, but I’m on the verge of just quitting and taking by a break. Many things have happened over the last 6 months (called back to the office, micromanaging, etc), but this just pisses me off.
Back in late Feb, we were told that our team of 20 people is now too large because of economic factors (maiority of us were hired within the last year), and we need to reduce headcount by 4 people. Now my company doesn’t lay people off, they just give you some time to find a new job before forcing some people into new roles or reorging. Our deadline was May 5, 2 people found other jobs at this point, and this week they were supposed to tell us the plan for how they will move the last 2 people.
We have heard nothing, and other things have gotten worse and worse with our team. Then on May 3, we had a meeting with us and other teams in our division, where they announce that things have gotten worse and now we will need more downsizing across the whole division! They didn’t give any details, and just said that they will give us the plan by June 30.
We don’t even know what’s happening with the first round and now there will be more with no clarity. I’m just so sick of this, now I’m planning to quit after all this is over in July. Just waiting to get my bonus in late June, and waiting to see if they would do any layoffs/severance, though I doubt it.
