Employee Appreciation Events

So where I work it’s Employee Appreciation Week. Luckily I don’t work for a company that requires us to attend special events outside of work but I’m really not into them regardless. IMO I was hired to do work. Appreciation comes in the form of a paycheck and respect towards the work I do, whether it’s through raises and promotions, or how my boss critiques my work and helps balance my work/life. I don’t want to sit around in pointless meetings and events just so management can pat their own backs about how great they think they treat us. I’m not married to the place I’m employed at. If anything I give 90-100% of my energy (because let’s be real, saying you’re giving 110% or something is just stupid) to the company and try to get out of the work week under 45 hrs. Anyone else feel the same?
