My employer is asking all of its employees to volunteer to come clean the building on the weekend for no pay. They're not making it mandatory to come and they're promoting it as a sort of hang out cleaning party but it's not sitting right with me. We are usually paid a lower hourly rate during the week for cleaning so I don't know why they aren't offering pay. Is what they're doing illegal?
