Employer requiring a class in the middle of back to back 12 hour shifts

I work in a often stressful job for ridiculously low wages in Mississippi. (In mental health field. Only make 11/hr). I work back to back 12 hour shifts which usually go way over because my replacements often show up extremely late. I found out today I’m being expected to attend a class 2 hours after a 12 hour shift ends which is expected to last until 6 hours before my next shift at least. I already struggle to get enough sleep and have medical issues that contribute to that problem. I sent an email to get clarification about if this is really the expectation but haven’t heard back yet. There apparently isn’t a single law regarding this issue and an employer can legally require you to work 24/7 if they give you the legally required breaks. (Not that we ever get the legally required breaks but if I say something I know it will just end in retaliation and one less hour paid per day and I’m already struggling to get by.) I don’t know if there’s actually anything I can do so I guess I’m just venting. I’m just so sick of my time not being valued at all. I could drop dead and these people would be annoyed they would have to find a replacement. So exhausting and frustrating. Definitely not going to go along with the hours as they’re scheduled. Hopefully they don’t force me into the position of demanding basic considerations again as I’ve had to do several times since I’ve started a little over a year ago..
