Employer wants me to record myself (for my whole shift!!) when working from home, or sit in a call with them all day. Is this legal? (UK)

[post is on behalf of a friend] Title says it all really. I work an admin job. My employer is quite paranoid and has gotten it into her head recently that we are “not doing enough work”, all because she asked a friend how long she felt a few assigned tasks should take, and the friend gave an answer much shorter than how long it actually took us. My employer begun by insisting we sit in a call with her all day for the entire duration of our shifts, so she could monitor us. Then she realised that would be annoying for her and take up her time, so now she insists we record ourselves every shift for the whole shift, so she can view the recordings and make sure we're “actually working” imo this is absolutely ridiculous, and I'm wondering if she even has a right to demand this…
