My girlfriend just had to quit her job today so I wanted to rant. Yesterday she got sick and began throwing up at work. She called me to pick her up (we share a car), and I had to leave my work early to get her. When I finally get there, her manager says she can't go home until the next employee comes, over an hour later. At this point she can barely function, I need to get back to my job, so she ends up just staying the rest of her shift and suffering. So then last night she's up all night sick, and texts her boss 2 hours before her shift saying she can't go. Nope, her boss makes her text every single employee to fill in, and when nobody can (it is a small business after all), she AGAIN says that she needs to come in until the next person can come (a 5 hour shift). Besides the fact that she shouldn't be going in to NOT get her fellow employees sick, she can barely move. She's been at the toilet all morning, and our schedules conflict so I couldn't pick her up early even if she could find the strength to get there. The funny part is, if she were able to go home yesterday and rest up instead of being forced to work sick, she might've been able to go in today. So that's that. She quit, her boss has been blowing up her phone, and now she blocked her. That kind of abuse is not worth $12/hr.
