I started working at a company around 6 months ago, the initial communication was that I would be paid 75k after commission by the person who offered it (hes a manager there), the interviewer seemed a little less convinced it would he that high, but after communicating with the original guy he said he was sure it would be no problem to hit. Against my better judgment I started the job, training was practically non existent, the first week was me tagging along while the manager ran errands for his other roles in the company or they would leave me in the office to make phone calls to clients without any training on the program (they did give me a few video trainings to watch). Second week was a little more involved, but again I was often left on my own. Third week they hired someone else (who also went through the same experience), now they did try to give us both a little more “training” but they kind of left us on our own for excessive amounts of time. Several months go on without receiving any commision, apparently the job is very seasonal, which I was not really informed of. Eventually the busy season hits, there was a minimal quota to hit to receive commision bonuses, so I missed it the first month by a few sales. Unbeknownst to me, the person hired right after me was given a different payout structure that allowed them to get paid without a minimal number to hit. I went to my boss and asked if it was possible to get the same structure, they said yes, however by the time payday rolled around several weeks later they had “forgot” to change the structure and said they would fix it and retroactively payout the commission (at this point and moving forward I was number one in closes and remain there today). They didn't manage to fix or address the error until I was able to find a manager in the field (he hadn't been to the office for several day) and confront him about the situation. A few days later I was delivered a performance improvement plan, apparently they had looked at my first couple of months performance and decided I was not hitting the right numbers in several metrics, the problem being I was never given any specific numbers to hit, nor was I warned either written or verbally I was heading towards a PIP in the first place. After the pip was delivered I had been maintaining the top sales position for a few months, and they decided I needed to hit double my projected closes or potentially face a writeup (this would put me at close to 3 times the closes of the next highest rep in my portfolio). Communication here has been awful, and questions asked about day to day operations and problems with the product will go unanswered indefinitely more often than not. Most recently the management “forgot” to audit everyone's sales and are saying they won't be paying out this periods commision until next payday, making it 2 weeks late. I feel like I'm in a fever dream, what should I do?
