I (M26) am applying for jobs in a new field moving from fitness and retail to a more technical position for which I have some experience and credentials, but I am still fairly green.
While job searching I found an hourly position posted on indeed with a pay range of $20-25 an hour. I had my interview today and did quite well. The only problem was that my interviewer said the position pays $19 an hour! WTF
The job is everything I want though small company, relaxed dress code, no drug test #420 (which can be hard to find in DC Metro in this field due to government contracts), health insurance including dental and vision great location for me etc.
This job checks all the boxes, but it was a slap in the face to not even get the minimum range on the post. I have a follow up in a week and plan to negotiate, maybe they are just low balling a first offer but it's BULLSHIT to not even offer within the posted range.
Any advice, similar experiences, should I just say fuck you? Not name shaming yet because they are a small company with a good environmental mission statement but yeah
