So I recently joined my new job around 5 months ago. It’s an open office environment and has a variety of ages but mostly young (21-25, with me being 24).
In my team, they haven’t been inviting me to the past few events even though I interact with them everyday. Whenever I eat lunch with them and reply to their questions there tends to be an awkward silence. They also all know each-other outside of work and talk about things only they know about.
The environment is like high school and extremely cliquey.
I’ve done my best to interact and meet new people, and there have been some that have been really nice. But my team, and the people I interact closely with exclude me in a lot of team events, they’ll even talk about the event in-front of me and ask others if they’re going except for me.
They’re all pretty well off and rich too so idk if it’s a class thing as they are also really snobby as well.
I’m now feeling very depressed at my job and don’t know what to do other than look for another job. It’s been tough not blaming myself for this but I have never been through this before in any job.
