I had enough! One of my bosses (who owns the company) is constantly bad mouthing employees, openly saying we’re lazy for wanting to work from home and forced me and a few others to come to the office for an ‘important client’ from April 2020, which is when Covid was really bad in NYC. There’s no workplace boundaries, he even had one of my colleagues help him choose presents for his mistress (which he all charged to his company credit card.) We don’t even have HR so they aren’t even pretending to care.
They laid off about 60% of the company in March 2020. They promised to rehire people but never did. Since then we’ve been doing the same amount of work with less people. We’re constantly overwhelmed by work. They get upset if we don’t want to work weekends or answer their 11pm texts.
Recently they’ve been bragging about how well they’re doing, yet they refuse to give us raises. My boss even said that he’s glad the pandemic happened because it’s been super great for his business.
I couldn’t leave or even speak up for myself due to visa restrictions but I’ve had some changes in my situation and now I’m FREE. I’ve literally prayed for the day I could leave for so long. Part of me is scared to be leaving with no job lined up but I’m burnt out and need some space to figure out what I want to do.
