I’ve posted on here before about my job, I work at a banquet hall for weddings.
Boss 1 is big boss, boss 2 is underboss
Found my job posted on indeed, paying 18 an hour, that’s what I had just been given as a raise. Some other co workers here make 16 and 17 an hour.
So I took 9 day vacation to go camping with some buddies. (Boss 1 was already not happy about this)
Came back in today, obviously not having information about events that are currently happening.
So there’s an event tonight starting at 6pm, decorators are coming in at 9am. This is fairly common but I had no knowledge of it happening today.
Boss 1 is upset that the event is not set up already and decides to turn to me to say “you should have checked in with boss 2 about this being decorated.” I reminded him that I had been off for 9 days and I’ve only been here for an hour today and therefor I didn’t know. (Boss 2 wasn’t at the job yet)
Boss 1 says that it’s my responsibility to make sure we have time to set up events before decorators come in. (It isn’t, it’s boss 2 job.)
Boss 1 tells me that it’s common sense that I need to call boss 2 to make sure of anything(while on my vacation). I said that’s unfair and that he(boss 1) should have scheduled properly and had me come in a few hours earlier and told me what was happening so that we could have had this set up. I said it’s unfair and frustrating that it’s falling onto me when it’s not my responsibility.
Boss 1 says I can’t count on any of you here to be responsible or take care of anything, you’re all useless. (Talking to me and two coworkers)
I told him to go hire someone for 18 an hour to be responsible and to do his job properly.
This led to him calling me into the office and handing me a write up for the second time.
Instead of signing I wrote that this is my two week notice and I will be working until June 6th.
I know it’s not as great as saying I quit right now but I’m getting a little extra money and then going on vacation for a while.
