First fulltime job in years. Freaking out. Any tips?

Next Monday May 2nd I will finally start fulltime employment with the national Labor Union as a Project Consultant/Manager. It is my first serious job with a fulltime contract including health benefits and retirement plan EVER. Before that I tried to pursue a PhD at Manchester University and some other opportunities. In between that I tried customer service, teaching high school, and collections. All experienced ended with a scene either with the boss or one of my colleagues. I loathe the workplace, I despise mandatory interaction with colleagues and superiors. Any tips to survive the new work place in the first couple of months?
