first job experience

what’s up y’all. so im 23 years old & turn 24 in a couple months. im new to work & only worked two different jobs. i stayed at my first one, frankly because i was to scared to do anything. i eventually left my first grocery store job. because my store manager didn’t know what to do & how anything worked. i was 19 when i got hired & 21 when i quit. i wanted to switch departments because my department manager & i didn’t get along. she didn’t like the work i produced & i didn’t like her passive aggressive notes saying if i left the place “dirty” one more time, i would be written up. i talked about getting a switch to a different department & both department managers are okay with it. fast forward, i didn’t switch departments & i was pretty much left in limbo for…

what’s up y’all.

so im 23 years old & turn 24 in a couple months. im new to work & only worked two different jobs.

i stayed at my first one, frankly because i was to scared to do anything. i eventually left my first grocery store job. because my store manager didn’t know what to do & how anything worked. i was 19 when i got hired & 21 when i quit. i wanted to switch departments because my department manager & i didn’t get along. she didn’t like the work i produced & i didn’t like her passive aggressive notes saying if i left the place “dirty” one more time, i would be written up.

i talked about getting a switch to a different department & both department managers are okay with it.

fast forward, i didn’t switch departments & i was pretty much left in limbo for 6 months. never put onto the schedule. only once or twice when they didn’t a shift covered.

so i did what anyone else would do & apply for unemployment.

i wasn’t receiving my money that i was approved for. i was so confused. so i talked to unemployment on the phone & said they’re the ones blocking it.

i go to my work & ask to speak my store manager & he said these three things:

1) i have over 100 employees how do you expect me to know if everyone is on the schedule.

my response in my head: bitch you’re the one who approves the schedule. so you know if everyone is working or not. so he told me he doesn’t do his job by checking if the hours are good, why people called in, etc etc

2) it’s not confirmed but if you’re not the best employee, some of the managers give you less hours in hopes you quit.

my response in my head: so they don’t have to fucking pay me my damn unemployment.

3) you’re still technically an employee so yeah i denied it.

my response in my head: you’re the biggest dumbass ever.

i don’t know how it works in yalls state but if you get less than 20 hours a week or something, you qualify for it. i wasn’t being put on the schedule at all.

he eventually got me some shifts but i didn’t want to work with this fucker again. so i put in my two weeks & the manager that was with him when i did that, she said

“let’s see when your last day is”

he said “it’s today”

worst first job experience ever.

i did eventually get my unemployment. but in like an 3 different checks. so instead of getting 200 a week or something, they gave me checks in the 2000s. which was tight as fuck.
