They already refused the harassment restraining order once but because the employer requested a hearing, I have to attend or I automatically lose. I have a clean record and this would destroy my life. The same employer fired me so I am currently going through the job search process.
I have no doubt the case will be thrown out because I didn’t do what the employer is saying. But my fear is—will this show up on the background check for any jobs I am currently applying to prior to the hearing date?
Also, is there anyone I can report this employer to for what is essentially defamation of character that does not involve hiring a private attorney?
I am in the United States. Any help is hugely appreciated.
