I’m a temp to perm employee for a local gov office. I’ve been here six months and found out today that the position I was moving into (call center style position) is now being filled by someone else from outside our office. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’ve been expecting this for the past couple of months.
Most all other temp employees in the office have been hired on permanently and were well established in the office before they were perm, I don’t even have an email. I manage the lobby currently in place of a security guard, which they are hiring for atm. Once they find one, there will now no longer be a position for me to fill and I’ll certainly be let go. I’ve been applying to various places for a month now and finally have an interview this week, just hoping it ends up going well for me.
It is beyond frustration to be led on for months, promised to be moved to a specific department, only to find out half a year in that they don’t want to continue going that direction. I’m just glad I found out now and not when they have a new security guard, I have a month minimum to find another job.
