I gave my formal resignation last week because I got a new job. Zero response for over a week and then was told “ I acknowledge receipt of your message and you are training new hire next shift”. I already traded that shift to another coworker and made other plans.
Supervisor calls me saying I have to show up because I didn’t get approval and it wouldn’t have been approved anyway. I apologized if I didn’t follow protocol but I found coverage and I will not be there. Supervisor says it’s a safety hazard for someone to work an extra shift. In reality company is just against paying overtime.
The call started very aggressive about it’s a privilege to be able to work and I have a responsibility. Threatened with a no call/ no show and write up if I don’t show up. I started to laugh because I remind them that I am leaving and being very accommodating by working while they find a replacement. Tone changed dramatically when they realized threats don’t mean anything. Some awkward silence followed by a passive aggressive comment about enjoying my time off.
Worked there for a while for barely above state minimum wage. Always showed up for my shifts and filled in if someone was out. Very frustrating dealing with companies that don’t care.
