“Getting to know each other outside of work” – OPINIONS WANTED

Management has recently shared the idea that if we got to know each other outside of work, it will lead to a better, more efficient working environment. It was decided that we will collectively go to a place called Pins Mechanical Co (you pay to play things like duck pin bowling, ping pong, etc. Family-friendly during the day however, it IS a bar). I seem to be the only person on my team who disapproves of this idea. Am I going to want order a drink or two? Yes. Do I actually want to drink around these people? No. (Don't worry, it won't be on company time). Will we be forced to cover the costs of the activities or will the company front? Yet to be determined but probably the former. I also despise forced team-building. I did plenty of that in college and guess what. It didn't work. I foster friendships with the co-workers I actually click with and maintain civil, professional connections with the other coworkers.

Before I end this, I should clarify what I mean by “forced”. Attendance is not required, just highly encouraged. It would be after work or on a weekend.
