GM questioned why I needed a new work jacket

So I been working for the same company for three years now. It gets pretty cold where I work. I haven’t asked for a new piece of gear in 2 years (which I paid for myself). With everything going up I said “nope, they can buy me a new jacket” I walked in the office and requested a new jacket. Right away I get asked “what’s wrong with the one you’re wearing?” I didn’t hesitate and told my GM that I haven’t requested new gear in 2 years and that I feel like I deserve a new jacket with being the only supervisor who works 6 days a week and puts in the work. We pull up the website and I pointed out the jacket I wanted. GM response “you want the 100$ jacket?” I said “am I asking for too much?” the response: sigh ok, I’ll get you this…

We pull up the website and I pointed out the jacket I wanted. GM response “you want the 100$ jacket?” I said “am I asking for too much?” the response: sigh ok, I’ll get you this only because I’ve never put in gear orders for you. Next time you can scan the QR code on the bulletin board and buy one yourself.

GM then brags about all the company gear he’s got and offered to donate some of his gear to me…

Why are companies so fucking cheap? We make thousands of dollars on late fees from truck drivers on a daily basis alone and my 100$ jacket is breaking the bank? I wish companies valued their employees more especially their supervisors / leaders that run the show.
