GM struggles

I am the GM (F 19) of a restaurant. Owner called me (at 8am on my morning off mind you) that we got a bad review about an employee last night and she is to be terminated. Okay, fine. I tell him that I won’t be able to cover her Wednesday night (two days from now) because I have a dinner with my mother for her birthday. His response is, “Well, your mom worked in the industry. So she’ll understand.” Lol. I don’t have a backup employee to take it because I’m technically already over my labor goals even with only two people on every shift, (how???), so I can’t afford to hire any extra people unless I want to lose my bonus (which I like to receive since I don’t get paid very much) or have my good employees quit if I cut their hours. So anyway, looks like the owner will be working on Wednesday night cause I am not cancelling my plans because he decided to fire somebody. Just venting about the ridiculousness of this situation.
