I spent about 7 years at a manufacturing company and decided to quite because harassment issues, burn out, and was just tired of doing the same thing over and over, high pressure for OT, and working weekends with a 30 min commute. (I know that’s not too bad, but I’ve decided it was for me lol). I decided to get a part time job while I complete my education at a community college and start my own business. I’ve accepted a job at a Mexican restaurant chain, and I’m excited to see what it’s like to work at a nearly minimum wage job. As most people I started out at a min wag job and I’m going in with a new perspective, of employers and working for people in general. I’m not afraid to speak up, and call people out for their shit. I did that a lot at my previous job when they thought they could change our schedules the very next day, tried to make us work overtime and not addressing dangerous work conditions.
I’m not really sure why I’m posting this lol but maybe wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience. Or if you have any questions, maybe you are looking to do the same thing? All I can say for my self is I’m so much happier now. Sure I don’t have that pretty decent income but money is not what brings happiness. I’m open for questions if you have any.
Idk maybe I’ll push for a union? Hehe
Cheers.
