So the boss came to the store and I was doing my job. I dropped some meat on the machine, the thing was burning hot, I assume the meat would be burned and become inedible, so I immediately threw it away, I was clearly wrong, the thing was still edible, all I need to do was put it back.
The boss saw that and approached me, asking me, “why threw it away, who taught you that?”. I replied, “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that.”
I proceed to continue my work as costumers coming in, at this point, my face was dead serious, as I realized I made a mistake and caused the man money. Then I saw him texting, then one of my colleagues (higher seniority than me) got a phone call from the office, then my colleague asked me what happened, and told me what I should have done.
I said “ok, got it”. I got so annoyed and confused, why the man can't just tell me what I needed to do in such circumstances, instead, he has to text the managements, and have the management call my colleague, and let my colleague educates me.
Like FFS, I know I made a mistake, and caused u three dollars of merchandise, but at least have the human decency to tell me directly. As if this is such a big deal that the whole company has to know that I'm incompetent and doesn't deserve to work here. I find this whole thing so ridiculous and unnecessary, it's almost funny, so I sneered.
It was probably too obvious, the man saw it, and probably thought I was mocking him. So he stormed inside the work station, and told me that I can leave. Later today, I got an email saying I'm terminated for “gross misconduct”.
Now thinking it over, I should probably done differently, apologize more sincere, stopping being so cynical, you know, just to keep the job so I can feed myself. But god, I hate that pretentious hypocrite.
