Got in big trouble at Target today, then told the manager how I felt with no remorse.

So I was working self checkout when I got a call from a job recruiter from a major tech company. OC I answered it at the risk of losing my $45/day gig, and the store manager SWOOPED IN like a vulture and rudely poked me on the shoulder to get my attention. After my call and assisting customers (I can multitask), the manager took me into a little cart area and said that was unacceptable. I straight up told her that if she was going to pay me $16/hr in Los Angeles, Imma need 2 jobs. I even said I might do it again if needed. The dumbest thing she said was “Just because we pay (close to) minimum wage doesn’t mean you can give less than maximum effort.” I REALLY wish I told her it doesn’t work that way, and that’s a stupid expectation and frankly disrespectful to her employees. You get what you pay for, don’t be greedy. I find beggars and choosers disgusting.

Anyways, I am very hopeful I get one of the career jobs I’ve applied for so I can follow up on our conversation with more sass.

Note: Yes, it was bad to answer a call on the floor. But I will not let an executive at a dream company go to voicemail so that I can provide the best retail experience possible. My boss ALSO said if I get bored to literally state straight ahead or play with the spill cleannup bag.
