This was a couple of years ago in the middle of the pandemic. I was told on November 1 that I would be getting laid off from my job on the 30th of November. I was assured I was getting a severance package. So I started looking for a new job. I found one and was hired and they agreed to start me on December 1st. Went in and told my job that I had found another job so the told me that I would not be getting my severance and they would consider me telling them about the new job as my two week notice. The new job has better pay, hours, benefits plus I got a big bonus and stock. The kicker is about 8 months later the old job asked if I wanted to come back to work there. Told them if they gave me a 10K a year raise plus compensation for the lost bonus and stock I would. They couldn’t match it.
