I was contracted for a temp position while a guy was on paternity leave from last week of July until the end of the year. People at the job were nice and it was a good place to work with good pay. There was another temp at the office filling in for a woman that had been on sabbatical. I had spent the past month learning the job and was just finishing training when I wake up last Friday to a text from my recruiter saying that the company terminated my contract. My supervisor gave great reviews of me to my temp company and said they liked my work but “they found someone else to fill the vacancy.” Turns out that since the woman that the other temp was filling in for came back on Monday they decided to extend her contract and terminate mine.
I don’t even feel super wronged but it just really sucks that I was expecting to be employed until Christmas and had told people about my new job. Now it’s just gonna be extremely embarrassing when I’m asked about it and I have to tell people that I’m out of work. I also have bills/student loans to pay and a wedding to pay for. I’m just having a hard time not feeling deeply frustrated that this happened
