got the “be grateful” bs today…

Just came back from an intensive 2 weeks recruitment and training trip to an office on the other side of the world from me. Had a discussion with my manager about expenses and mentioned I would be including my travel consultation, vaccine and 2 prescriptions that were “recommend” in a checklist type document to help prep for the trip. My manager was unsure if I should/could expense these things to which i pointed out that the only reason I incurred said expenses was due to my participation in the trip. That’s when I got hit with the old, “you should be grateful” and then also, “we’re talking about pennies on the dollar”. Which was completely incorrect and very infuriating. It’s like I didn’t even work 11 to 12 hours days when we were there! Half a billion dollar company but me expensing less than $250 is gonna be what brings…
