So first of all. English is my second langue. I'm incredibly angry and sad so I probably made many grammatical errors. So, I'm an independent blacksmith. I could not sell my crafts because of covid(all public markets where closed in my country for the last two years.) So I decided I will work as a translator for some time. Freelancer jobs and all. I got some gigs but nothing major.
One day a Brazilian company hired me for subtitleing for a big project. I was so happy. They promised good money, and seemed very nice and helpful. Out of the blue they decided they need somebody to organise the team and proofread the done work, so I was promoted to PM. That was in February. The first project ended, I got paid. Good money. I decided I will trust this company and bring in all of my former translator collagues. I formed a strong team, and we got trough many series, and movies. I gave my soul to this job. There where weeks when I only slept on evey other day. I tried my best despite it was just me against hundred of hours of moving pictures. I may have made errors but nothig really bad or serious.
In april we got a big project. Close deadline. Nearly impossible to do. But we have done it. I was exhausted but content.
Today, 7 days after the payment deadline, the CEO of the company told me they are investigating my work with an independent proofreader. And if they found even one error, I will not get paid for the last two month of my work. It was in my contract. I feel like a fool. I was literally tricked doing two months of work. I thought they are nice and dependable, but it was just a rouse to trick me. Now here I am, without money, and means to provide for my family.
