Recently saw a 'Fortune' article talking about a 72 trillion dollar wealth transfer to millennials as boomers are dying off. I didn't share because of the paywall. I'm sure this is a global analysis, but I'm looking at it through the lens of an American.
This might be one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a while. This financial propaganda of “aren't millennials so lucky” ignores the greed and selfishness of the boomer generation. There isn't a massive concentration of wealth because they have been so generous. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the ones with significant wealth to leave behind absolutely want it to go to someone besides their family.
My step-father is a prime example of this. Classic liberal, hippie, defense attorney, son of a judge. Mom died and this mfker is trying to take absolutely everything: family farm, all her money, house, despite treating her like shit for years and getting his own inheritance of millions, multiple houses and land from his parents. He's in his 70s with a bad heart plaguing my family, dragging us through court.
He's a stones throw from the grave, has his own kid he doesn't give a shit about and I guarantee wants to take everything from us and give it to whatever old skank is greedy enough to touch him at his age.
The majority of friends my age might receive a house from their parents that they'll have to sell to cover attorney fees, medical debt and burial costs. Don't be fooled, they voted their future generations into slavery for short term profits they wish they could take with them like some kind of Pharaoh.
