Had an anxiety attack at work, and they wouldn’t let me leave

Because of the stress around applying to college, I ended up having probably the worst anxiety attack I ever had at work last night. Around 7pm, it hit me and I had to go cry in the bathroom for a bit. Took me probably another hour to work up the ability to let someone know. Because of the stress around applying to college, I ended up having probably the worst anxiety attack I ever had at work last night. I finally let my shift lead know what was happening, and she said I could sit in the break room while she talked to the manager. Usually, the managers are very nice and understanding, so I figured they’d understand and let me leave. By then, I really wasn’t needed there. Long story short, I didn’t get home until 11. As anyone who struggles with anxiety can attest, being stuck in a place with no control of the situation is liable to seriously make things worse, which it did. I spent a good portion of the time from 7 to 11 crying in the bathroom, which I luckily didn’t get in trouble for. This whole situation really shocked me, because in the past, the managers have been very understanding and willing to be lenient with stuff like this. Anyway, I’m starting therapy soon so yay 🫠
