I guess I found my favorite place on the entire Reddit here! Hello Anti-work community!
I am here to discuss the Cold Temperature at the work place.
In my scenario, I’ve been working for a warehouse company as a Forklift driver for some time, now as the winter came again, we do all get affected due the gates are mostly open, there’s currents coming in and the temperature is low or even colder than outside sometimes.
As I’ve been researching, the law suggest that there must be somewhere between 13 to 16 degrees temperature inside.
I’ve spoke to some team leaders about this and they’ve said that the cold itself doesn’t makes anyone sick. But in my perspective it does and this is how. It plays the number 1 factor into catching a virus due it puts our body into stress and lowers the immune system, especially when we breath in the cold air.
Which by the definition we get sick because of the cold.
Now, they do not provide any PPE or adequate equipments to combat the cold for the workers.
Most of workers are employed through 0h contract agency and they are unaware of their rights, afraid of speaking up and 99.9% never read their contracts.
I am looking forwards to find more details and fight this situation, if anyone been through this please let me know how you handle it.
Be blessed everyone.
P.S. I know we are just numbers, and the easiest solution would be to find another job. But for the moment I am still here, my friends too and we all suffering.
