I apologize in advance if this is not appropriate for this sub. I’m posting because I frequently see questions from people outside of the US if health care is really as bad as we make it seem. Yes. Yes it is.
My wife tore her meniscus and went to the ER. It was not with our provider as their urgent care centers were closed at the time (this visit would have cost us a $20 copay if she went directly to our provider) so went to a hospital that accepted our insurance.
She had her vitals checked. Waited about a half our to have a two minute, tops, conversation with triage (still at this point didn’t know what her injury was) then went back out to wait for four hours. By this time it was late and she said fuck it let’s just go to [our provider] tomorrow to get checked out. So we left, signed a document that said she did not get treatment.
So far we’ve gotten two bills one for $237 and one for $87.40 for doing absolutely nothing. Link to images in the comments.
