Got a relative well paying job recently, a sales assistant job in a relatively small branch selling computer rental services. When I was at the interview I was told that I mainly just watch over the shop and service any customer that are interested in our services. The MLMish program (what they called as agency) is for part timers only and us full timers (just me and the dude who interviewed me) will just be manning the physical store and occasionally respond or follow up some online questions from social media, sometimes maybe hand out some flyers for passerbys to let them know our services and that’s pretty much it.
But it never turns out to be this simple. Just couple of hours ago, the manager told us that we have to join the Agency group chat and require us to pull every single person that we ever interacted and collected names from into the group chat and seminars, possibly to let them know about the program and persuade them to join it. Hell I looked into the company’s CEO and found out he literally has “specializes in multi level marketing” in his LinkedIn profile.
This obviously doesn’t sit well with me, I signed up to be a sales assistant for a physical store, not to be a walking ad for a MLM scheme. But I do enjoy the job for being simple and having decent pay, what should I do?
My current plan is to just continue doing what I signed up for until they fire me for not participating in the program, dk if this is a good plan though.
