Jobs have become like those free apps you use to make money on. Use do surveys for 5 hours and you get to walk away with a $1.50. What I mean by this, is the sheer amount of time you dedicate to that app(or job) the money you make will never actually be worth it for the time you spend on it.
You will grind away your life just to never be able to pay your bills, never have a savings, die before you can ever retire. It's simply just not worth it.
The amount of money a standard job pays isn't enough to support a family or yourself. People used to just work and support their 4 kids on 1 income. That is now barely possible. Both parents are forced to work to support their families. We spend atleast half of our waking lives to work at a job that will never have your back.
There just seems to be a disconnect that these companies are people's only way of paying rent and taking care of themselves and families. As if companies dont think that its their responsibility for the livelyhood of their employees. Employers don't want to pay a father to take care of his kids. They don't want to employ a man because he has to pay his rent. They don't employ a woman so she can buy her overpriced feminine hygiene products. They employ the most qualified least demanding person for the job. They one who is so desperate to work, but doesn't have a blemish on their record, and will to take the lowest price. They don't aim to fulfill your dreams, they hire you to line their pockets. And with the revenue you bring in, you only get the barest fraction of the profits.
This is modern slavery. As the masses start to say we are tired of this shit, the few powerful people call everyone lazy and entitled. I think if the millions are telling the thousands that this isn't right, then 99% of the time, it isn't right.
What is the social responsibility of a company to pay their workers a livable wage?
Because it seems that history keeps on repeating itself. Companies seem to always reach the point of taking advantage of the masses that they can force the economy to crash, they can manipulate the economy at their will. And the only bailout I've seen for normal workers were the stimulus checks during COVID, in my life I have seen plenty of multibillion dollar corporate bailouts for banks, automotive companies, real-estate companies and many many holdings companies. But the average American gets called for being a freeloader for using food stamps. Really?
We have reached a day and age where poverty can be controlled, the only issue is, that means you have to control the greedy as well. But alas, the greedy can buy lobbyists, even politicians if they want to, by funding that politicians campaign. Where are the lobbyists for the American people? Maybe use our taxes for that.
The American people of this day and age, our future leaders, won't forget this. Once my generation reaches the age where we can run for office, I hope things will change. The only problem is I'll be at the end of my life to see that change, yet another downfall of the bureaucracy.
