I was getting like 26-32 hours working for the grocery store Publix. Then they cut my shifts down to like 16 hours for the last 2 weeks (they’ve cut many peoples shifts) and I’ll get one BIG shift at like 7am until like 4pm. Not a morning person at all and I told them this, and they still do this.
I end up calling out when this happens (unless it’s a shorter shift and they need me in the morning). Like 9-10am is fine….and I’ll deal with that, but now I gotta wake up at like 5:30am for this. Other people love very early mornings, I don’t. Especially getting a late night shift or whatever and then throwing this on me. Or having the nerve to cut my hours, and then giving me this.
This is where I’m looking for a regular job now. I can’t deal with this. My last job (which wasn’t retail) didn’t even start at 7am. I can’t stand when big companies do this. Like “oh okay thanks for cutting my hours and then giving me 7am shifts… cool. Thanks.”
Then they wonder why people call out. One of my coworkers at Publix got a 5am shift. He’s a cashier.
