How do you feel about companies that require a short video that includes repetitive info as part of the application process?

Just wondering what you all think of this. You’re supposed to create a 2-3 minute video that includes info about your personal and professional background and why you are interested in the position at that particular school. This info is included in my CV and my cover letter (both mandatory). Why do companies do this? Is it to weed out candidates who can’t be bothered? Is it to see how we present ourselves before bothering to interview? Do you find this extra step acceptable or do you feel like it’s a red flag, perhaps something that indicates a heavy-handed or “difficult” work environment? The organization actually seems quite decent . And it has good reviews on Glass Door and another niche website that focuses on reviews of places of employment.
