How my Attendance management meeting went today.

So below I have copied the link to my original post about how my company has been handling absenteeism this is a follow up story. (Also I’m a Reddit newbie so please be patient if my linked post isn’t easy to find) Today I went to the board room to meet with HR for my monthly attendance meeting (I’ve missed 2 days this calendar year both for my son who has been having some non serious health issues and I’ve also worked 9 overtime shifts in the last 7 weeks) I walk in and sit down the HR representative looks at me. “Hello I’m the HR representative that manages the absenteeism program how are you today?” “Well I guess we all need something to do around here don’t we? I would also be a lot better if I could go do my job instead of wasting my time with this”…

“Hello I’m the HR representative that manages the absenteeism program how are you today?”

“Well I guess we all need something to do around here don’t we? I would also be a lot better if I could go do my job instead of wasting my time with this”

“Well this isn’t a waste of time, it’s beneficial to the company to manage our employees like this. Anyway we just wanted to confirm that on June 3rd you were Sick and unable to attend your shift?”

“No actually my uncles cat had a piano recital and I’m just so proud of him that I wanted to go and show my support.”

“This is a serious meeting we would suggest you take this seriously and participate willingly, but is there anything the company can do to encourage you to make your regular scheduled shifts?”

“Maybe we could bring in a magician to do magic shows during lunch , I think that would be really fun and make coming to work more pleasant”

“We would appreciate more serious and helpful suggestions, this isn’t a joke this is company policy”

“No this is a joke and I’m going to treat it as such, I could get stabbed in the parking lot and you guys would still find an issue with me missing work.. are we done here ? I know you have nothing better to do but I have a ton of work to get to.”

HR representative then dismisses me while my union steward continues to giggle because now the HR lady has become agitated and irritated with my answers. Fuck them this company is a joke.
