How to avoid giving back my $5,000 sign on bonus?

Basically my work wants me to pay them $3,000 because that is what’s left of my sign on bonus after tax. They technically owe me $2,500 from PTO buildup and last weeks pay period. They just sent me a document to sign that says if you sign this you authorize that we take your upcoming paycheck and put it towards this debt. Then please bill us a check for $500. In the original offer letter it says I’d have to pay back the signing bonus if I quit within 12 months. I never quit. I just didn’t want to go into the office. I was hired as a fully remote role. I talked to Hr and said I’m not quitting but I’m not going into the office. They said they’re putting that down as a “voluntary resign.” I said ok I’m not quitting I’ll still work for you. What do…
