HR is talking to the director about my leave request

I’m having a mental health issue related to my wife cheating on me and need to take some time away from the office. I emailed HR about this without the details of my relationship stating my mental health issue is preventing me being able to do my work duties, need to take a week or so off etc. HR responds and CCs the executive director in the email saying that they don’t allow unplanned/unpaid leave but that I can petition that through the FMLA Act of 1993 and they need a letter from my doctor. I get that but I’m feeling really weird and uncomfortable, especially with the inclusion of the big boss director. I know HR is never on the workers side but I feel like this is already breaking my confidence since I didn’t say anything about including the director in the discussion yet.
