So I work/worked for a very large, global corporation in first-level management.
I've been trying to apply for different positions in the company that align with my career path. I reach out to a couple of groups and they are excited to bring me aboard and I just have to go through the mandatory interview.
Through that process, my request to interview gets denied. Why? Because we are going through a reorg in the background.
News to me, so I do some more reaching out. Finding out the group that has told us to fuck off for 3yrs is absorbing us, not a group I want to be a part of. I reach out to the group and find out my role would be scattered and I would be put on a project that has nothing to do with what I do or want to do. I ask to transfer to one of the other groups and they sent approval to my current management.
Enter fucking HR. They throw a hissy fit and tell me to just wait for the reorg to finish it will only be a couple days. I ask why, in my opinion, a reorg is a perfect time to transition out. Especially if my current role is being offloaded to other people. Already mention both management chains agree to let me transfer. Get told that's not a possibility and I can only transition out after the reorg. Hell I wasn't even allowed to start the process.
Fast Forward 3 weeks. I submit my resignation today and HR doesn't understand why I couldn't just wait “a few more days.”
There's three professions that add nothing to society.
1. Realtors
2. Recruiters
3. HR
