Husband Got Fired For Something He Didn’t Do and He’s Devastated

The company claims he committed a felony/somehow forged his bosses signature, yet aren’t pursuing legal action AND the ceo of company told him he’d give him a personal recommendation to any place he applies to.

What just happened?

It’s an at-will state so it was effective immediately.

He had been pursuing a raise at the company and just a week prior to this action, he spoke directly with the ceo who said he was farming him for a CIO position.

His direct report didn’t really know what he did at the company and actively ran around making him do extra work and ask for a good word from every person he’s ever worked with in order to consider his raise. He shut the door the his office and blew up in my husbands face when he inquired after all the weird work he made him do.

His DR clearly had it out for him for whatever reason, but my husband is devastated over the decision by the ceo.

The ceo was really a mentor for him. He gave him the job, had made him management in December, had him doing everything from trade shows to physically engineering things (while still not paying him the average salary for just his job title) and then boom, fired on some bullshit charge with just a “anything you need for your future endeavors, let me know”.

I told him he should talk to the owner at least to see his side of it since his DR is the one who fired him. He said he doesn’t want to even see him ever again.

Now they also fucked over three separate departments, one of which is leaving his other coworker going to a customer site out of state alone this coming week and another supervisor of his now has to meet a production schedule by the end of the month by himself.

What on earth do I say to him? I don’t want to come in with my anti-work trust-no-one guns slinging because he really felt like he had a solid career path at a company run by a man he respected.

Tl;dr – husband got fired from a place he worked at for three years on some bullshit and feels betrayed by his mentor. How can I support him?
