First of all, I am only writing this here because I have nobody else to talk to about the issues I am facing over this job I accepted as a co-op student. I generally don't post on reddit, but I had to open up about my current feelings. I will be straight to the point. I am an engineering student and I took a production supervisor role in a car manufacturing company. This is a co-op position, I am suppose to be on this job for a year. Starting the job I had very low expectations, and I experienced even worse than what I expected. Starting the job, nobody told me or taught me anything. They gave me a bunch of stuff (mostly paperwork), showed me the production line and said here you go. I started by shadowing another supervisor, and the supervisor came to me and said “Do not follow me, I do not have any spare time to show you anything. You are free to check what we have on your own.” After 2 weeks trying to figure out everything on my own, they literally made me cover the entire building because many other supervisors left their job for obvious reasons. The employees I was looking after bullied me because of my age. I asked for help from management about the issues I am facing. Management went crazy about it, they said I took on this job knowing it is a supervisory role and I wasn't doing it right and should be disciplined etc. I literally told them I am there only as a co-op and I should be trained and taught to get experience and learn the job as a trainee. Obviously they did not like that and started bullying me too. There are countless informal and disrespectful situations I have faced over only few months and I am consumed by this. I don't know what to do and I need help. I did not want to go very specific to not get identified, but believe me I have not been treated this badly in my life. I also have a long drive so my life is only about work at the moment and I don't have any spare time for any other activity. People of reddit, please advise. Thanks.
