I have used audible and had my Amazon account for over a decade. Hundreds of books (roughly 130), and dozens of movies and tv shows were purchased with this account. A few days ago my account got a security breach from a hacker in India. What does Amazon do? They deleted my entire account, along with any information pertaining to my account. In fact, when talking with customer support, they said that because they deleted the account they can’t even verify if the account EVER even existed or not! Let alone verify all of my prior purchases. Everything I had is gone. My property, which I bought, which I was promised was mine, is entirely gone. I have talked to customer support, the managers of customer support, and the managers to those managers. All of them say the same thing: “we don’t care, there is literally nothing we can do, we don’t even know if you ever had an account. Goodbye”. It is a sickening show of brute force and power over their users. Don’t be fooled, you do not “own” anything. You have no property. Amazon can take everything you own related to them right away at the push of a button. And not because you did anything wrong either, all it takes is your account to get caught up in a security breach and then boom, goodbye everything. My home that I have spent hours automating with Amazon devices ceases to work now, because again, my account has been scrubbed from the face of the earth, and with it any software or hardware relating to that account. It’s disgusting. I will never use another Amazon product again, and I am heartbroken by my loss of property. I had thousands of dollars worth of (most importantly) books, movies, and shows, and all of the hardware which is now unusable. Who does that? What company just scrubs any and all data of your account from every server they own when you don’t even do anything wrong? You have no property, if you buy it through Amazon it belongs to Amazon. I’m at a loss, and am just completely devastated.
