At my job we had a 5 man crew, and they were pretty good workers (except 1)
It’s a trashy job ran by clueless owners and management, and our 2 best workers were fired for no-call-no-show for missing a single day.
I’ve been fed up with being treated like the bottom of the barrel, when I’m a good worker, I show up early, do my job, I’m definitely smarter than the job requires, and I was paid less than the newer guys.
The Last Straw:
So the day before “last straw” they had fired one guy for just being a generally horrible worker, and another guy quit for being underpaid, so we had already gone from 5 to 3 workers. Then my coworker went home early the next day with a fever of 102F, so it ended up just being me and the senior worker.
So I told management I was leaving an hour early today and he had told me “Why? Stuff.” (I dont respect them enough to tell them what’s going on in my life)
“Well that’s not how a job works, you’ve gotta figure it out” I just replied with “Meh”.
So I was just smoking –
which I picked up heavily during that job – and talking to my coworker when I was telling him how I just really want to quit. How I’m just so sick of that place. Then I decided.. screw it.. I’m done. I gave that coworker a hug cause he’s been the greatest coworker I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and he also helped me get my second job.
So I went inside and upstairs to the office, and just popped my head into the office “Hey
As I’m leaving the 2 coworkers who quit/were fired pull into the parking lot to pick up their checks, I told em “get your ass out the car”, gave em a hug and said “fuck this place. I quit”. I called all the other great coworkers I worked with, told them the great news, and told them once I have the cash I’m throwing a pizza party. They were happy for me, told me I’m worth more, and that I should definitely try going to college and a career in IT.
